Philanthropy is defined as voluntary action for the public good. In East Texas,
philanthropy is flourishing. In fact, while institutional services go through cutbacks, local
philanthropists continue to emerge to provide resources of time, talent and treasure for
local non-profits to do their work.

Qualifications: Nominee must be an Angelina or Nacogdoches county resident with a
continuing history of advancing the quality of life for the people of East Texas, as a
philanthropist, through:

    Community leadership
    Financial commitment to local organization(s)
    Advocacy for local cause(s)
    Board service in the non-profit sector

How did you hear about the Community Impact Awards?

Criteria: Provide the following information about the nomnee:

Describe in detail the nominee’s history of service as a board member in the
local non-profit sector, which exemplifies his or her leadership in the community.

Describe the impact the nominee has had on the community, including:
(a) the number of people influenced or served, (b) organizations(s) helped and
(c) how nominee has advanced the quality of life for the people of Angelina or
Nacogdoches county.

Describe the level of the nominee’s commitment of resources to local non-profit
organization(s) and the impact on the organization(s) and community.

Describe the nominee’s advocacy for local cause(s) and how this has benefited the
community.

INSTRUCTIONS AND POLICIES

Eligibility: Nominee must live or volunteer in Angelina or Nacogdoches county. Individuals or
immediate family members of individuals who are current board members or staff of KSWP and
KAVX, sponsors of the Awards, or committee members of the Award’s Host Committee or Selection
Committee are ineligible for nomination. Nominations will be open to more East Texas counties in
future years.

Completeness: Nominator must respond to each of the award criteria outlined. Submissions that fail to address each award criteria will not be considered.

Supplemental material: No supplemental material (newspaper articles, brochures, photos, etc.)
will be accepted with the nomination form.
