Forest Service Offering Student Internships
Apr 11 all-day

The USDA Forest Service is offering paid student internships throughout the country.

Students currently enrolled in high school through post-graduate level programs are eligible to apply.

Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Internships are for the summer of 2017 and may last up to one year. Government housing may be available at a cost to the intern.

Applicants will be accepted from April 6th-12th. on www.USAJOBS.gov in the fields of forestry, reception, engineering, surveying, natural resources and administrative support.

Angelina Arts Alliance Jane D. Ainsworth Scholarship

Calling all High School Seniors!!

The Arts Alliance is accepting applications for
the Jane D. Ainsworth Scholarship now through April 14th.

The Arts Alliance will award two $500 scholarships.

Applicants must be an Angelina County senior in
high school and excel in the performing arts such
as drama, music, or dance.

Applicants must have the desire and potential to
pursue a career in the performing arts and be
pursuing enrollment in a two- or four-year college,
university, or performing arts academy.

Scholarship winners will be presented to the
community on Saturday May 20th at 7:30pm.

Angelina College will match the Arts Alliance scholarship
for high school students planning to attend Angelina College
to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in the Fine Arts,
or existing students within the program.

Not only will you see all the animals, ag mechanics and arts & crafts projects but you can take a tour through our barns learning about the everyday need of agriculture. Veterans Stand Down

The DETCOG Regional Housing Authority HUD-VASH event aims to provide Veterans with the housing and wraparound services they need to successfully exit homelessness.

The free Stand Down event will have government agencies, faith-based organizations, housing providers, nonprofit agencies, and local businesses that can connect homeless Veterans with permanent supportive housing.

Other services available will follow intensive case management; benefits eligibility screening, employment, legal assistance, and mental health services.

There will also be speakers informing on legislative changes, an attorney to address veteran benefits and discharge, a speaker addressing protecting one’s assets, free health checkups, vendors, and giveaways.

This event is open to all Veterans, family and friends.

Veterans are encouraged to bring their identification.
